But I lost all my money on a long-shot in the fourth

Well, up jumped the preacher, he said “listen to these words-
You’ll never get to heaven while your thoughts are so perverse”
Well, it got me thinking: could he see inside my mind?
And if I looked in his tell me what would I find

Up jumped the devil (WHAT DID HE SAY?)
“I’ll take you to a paradise where people play all day”
And though he was persuasive, I looked him in the eye
